A longtime local educator is receiving a special honor.
Butler Area School District band teacher Jeff Kroner has been chosen to be included in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Hall of Fame in a ceremony planned for April.
Kroner began substitute teaching in 1991 before spending a couple years at Slippery Rock Area School District. He has been at Butler for the last 33 years while leading the Golden Tornado Marching Band since 2012.
Kroner plans to retire at the conclusion of the current school year and has also spent time bringing music to the Butler community as Director of the Musicians Concert Band for the last two decades.
