Seneca Valley wrestlers Alejandro Herrera-Rondon, Tyler Chappell and Dylan Chappell won WPIAL Class 3A Southwest Regional titles over the weekend. It was the third title each for both Dylan and Alejandro. The Seneca Valley team finished third overall behind winner Waynesburg.
Butler’s Cooper Baxter finished third overall in his weight class and advanced to the Triple-A Western Super Region tournament.
Congratulations to Butler Varsity Track athlete Guinness Brown who finished fifth at the Adidas Indoor Nationals in the Championship 200-meter dash final. He finished in 21.73 seconds for a career-best.
Also at the Indoor Nationals – Mike Formica of Knoch high school was one of four runners from the WPIAL who ran the 4×800 Relay – and they finished runner-up to earn All-American honors. Formica also finished seventh overall in the 1600-meter run, with a personal-best time of 4:16.11.
Josh Rohland, also of Knoch, was 18th overall in the Shot Put and 13th in the Weight Throw.
