A Lyndora man has been charged after being accused of hitting a woman and choking her in Butler Township.
The incident happened yesterday morning around 9:30 a.m. when officers were called to a Butler Township home for an alleged assault.
Charging documents say 23-year-old Damian Winters hit and choked a woman after the two got into an argument. Before officers arrived on scene, Winters fled but later spoke with officers over the phone.
When officers spoke with Winters he claimed the woman was hitting him and he acted in self-defense. Officers identified red marks on the victim’s face and neck when speaking with her.
Winters was taken into custody later in the day, placed in the Butler County Prison, and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.
Bail was set at $10,000 and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 8th.
