The Pittsburgh Penguins have voted Evgeni Malkin as their team MVP for the 2019-2020 season. Malkin led the Pens with 25 goals and 74 points during the regular season. It is the fifth time Malkin has won the player-voted award. Only Mario Lemieux with 12 and Sidney Crosby with eight have won more in Penguins history.
Stanley Cup Playoffs:
–The New York Islanders have taken a 3-1 series lead over the Philadelphia Flyers following a 3-2 victory Sunday in their Eastern Conference Series. Former Penguins goaltender Thomas Greiss stopped 36 shots in the victory. Game Five is Tuesday.
The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-3 to take a 3-1 lead in their Western Conference Series.
The Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-4 and have taken a 3-1 series also in the west.
NBA Playoffs:
–The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 111-97 Sunday to win their First Round Western Conference Series 4-2.
–Denver evened their series with Utah at 3-3 after a 119-107 victory.
–Boston took a 1-0 Eastern Conference Semi-final Round Series lead over Toronto with a 112-94 victory.
