After a physical altercation at a local gas station, a Butler man is facing charges for attempted robbery.
On Sunday, Butler City Police were called to the Sunoco gas station on the 400 block of West Jefferson Street for a man who allegedly tried to steal cigarettes and then got into a physical altercation.
Police say 55-year-old Sean Stettmier went into the store and pushed an employee out of the way as he took several packs of cigarettes. While attempting to stop Stettmier, he allegedly put his hands around an employee’s throat before fleeing the scene.
Stettmier was eventually taken into custody at his home located on the 300 block of West Jefferson Street. He’s been charged with robbery and is being held in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bond as he awaits a preliminary hearing.
