A man is awaiting extradition to Butler County after being arrested for taking his child to Alabama despite a court order giving custody to the child’s mother.
Chelsey Schlagel of Butler told police last week that 26-year-old Robert Lockskin left the state with her five-year-old son.
Then on Tuesday, she received a court order giving her temporary custody of her child.
However, when officers tried to contact Lockskin, they never heard back. After discovering that he was in Alabama—authorities reached out to their law enforcement. Police were able to safely locate the child, and then arrested Lockskin.
City police are working with the Butler County Sheriff’s office to bring Locksin back to Butler, where he’ll face a felony charge of interference with custody of children.
