A Butler man has been charged twice for attempting to break into a woman’s home.
Butler City Police were called to a home on the East Walnut Street on December 3 for a man breaking into a woman’s home with a crow bar. According to charging documents the man yelled “where’s my son?” while attempting to break in.
When police arrived on scene the man had left the premises and would eventually go to his sons’ home on First Street. After police received calls for the suspect from his son they were able to identify him as 40-year-old man Matthew Cline.
Cline would eventually return to the previous address where his home was connected to the victim’s home. Police then took Cline into custody and charged him with two counts of criminal trespassing.
Cline also attempted to break into the victim’s home from the basement and back door.
He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $100,000 bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
