One man is facing charges after he allegedly stole the identity of an officer with the Northern Regional Police Department.
Charging documents say the scam happened when an administrative assistant received an email from a scammer that was claiming to be an officer in the department. He told the assistant he wanted to change his direct deposit information.
It wasn’t until the officer told officials he never received his pay did they discover the scam.
Police identified the suspect as 43-year-old Leonard Heard III of Philadelphia.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
