
A Greenville man is facing charges in Butler after he attempted to forge and cash a check from a Lyndora church.
Police were called to St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church on Evergreen Road for a report of a stolen check.
The president of the church reported to police a check of $80 had gone out to Waste Management. The church was told someone had attempted to cash a check of $9,250 at the Mercer County Federal Credit Union, Sharon office.
Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Macon Dawson.
Dawson has been charged with access device is counterfeit, altered, or incomplete, theft by deception, and two counts of forgery.
He’s awaiting a preliminary hearing.
