Police have charged a Butler man after he allegedly crashed into another driver while driving under the influence in Summit Township.
Police were called to the intersection of Bonniebrook and Herman Road on June 14 for a two-vehicle accident.
When police arrived on scene they discovered that a trailer had been hit as it was traveling north on Bonniebrook Road.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, 36-year-old Michael Whitling, told police he only had one drink while at a friend’s house that night, was heading home, and he was the one that had been hit.
Physical evidence on scene did not support Whittling’s theory he had been hit. The officer also identified that Whittling was heading the opposite direction of his home according to the address provided by Whittling.
After refusing a blood test at the hospital, whittling was charged with a third-degree felony DUI and several other driving charges. He is waiting a preliminary hearing.
