A Butler man has been charged for hitting someone with his vehicle and driving off this past weekend in the City of Butler.
On Saturday, police were called to the area of East Brady Street and North Monroe Street just after 2 p.m. for reported hit and run.
When crews arrived on scene the victim was unconscious and flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.
According to witnesses, the driver was traveling at a high speed along East Brady Street and drove onto the sidewalk and hit the victim.
On Sunday officers received a tip about the vehicle potentiality involved being parked on Wiles Avenue. Police were able to connect the vehicle to 24-year-old Justin Austin. During an interview with Austin, he told police that he thought he hit a garbage bin not a person.
Austin’s been charged with accidents involving personal injury, aggravated assault by vehicle, and several summary offenses.
He’s awaiting a preliminary hearing.
