A Florida man is facing charges after he allegedly stole and crashed a vehicle in Butler County.
Police say it happened Sunday just after 8 a.m. when they were called to I-79 northbound just after the New Castle/Butler exit for a pick-up truck that had crashed into a barrier.
When police arrived, the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. He was later identified as 42-year-old Christopher Blackshear.
Police say Blackshear stole the truck from Russell Standard Corporation. He was eventually spotted at a local truck stop and was taken into custody.
Blackshear has been charged with theft by theft by unlawful taking and several driving offenses. A further investigation is pending and more charges may be filed at a later date.
Blackshear is being held in the Butler County Prison on $75,000 bond as he awaits a preliminary hearing.
