A Prospect man is facing multiple charges following a police standoff incident last week.
According to a criminal complaint filed by State Police, 61-year-old Gerry Foster has been charged with felony aggravated assault as well as possessing a weapon when he was not allowed.
The incident began around 11 a.m. Friday when troopers arrived in the 100 block of Schantz Road to serve a mental health warrant. Foster would not exit his home or obey police. Instead, he allegedly threw a coffee mug out of a window which nearly struck an officer.
Police observed what they believed to be the barrel of a rifle pointed out of the window so a SWAT team was called in to assist. Police deployed a drone to located and communicate with Foster but he allegedly struck and damaged the drone with a baseball.
Foster did eventually surrender to police and a rifle was found inside his residence along with ammunition for a shotgun. Foster is prohibited from possessing these items due to a prior criminal history.
