A Pittsburgh man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly kidnapped a woman in the City of Butler this weekend.
Butler City Police were called to the 100 block of Pillow Street Saturday around 2 p.m. for a possible kidnapping.
When officers got on scene, they spoke with the victim who said her ex-boyfriend 53-year-old Kenneth Clarke had tried to kidnap her out of her home in McGeary Street.
According to police, Clarke hit the woman’s face repeatedly, strangled her, and shoved her into a wall. During the fight, the victim was going in and out of consciousness.
After the fight inside the home, Clarke then allegedly dragged the woman by her hair and threw her into the passenger seat of a U-Haul truck. He then drove off, and held a pair of scissors to her and said he was going to kill her.
Security footage shows Clarke speeding and almost running a red light at the intersection of Cunningham and Pillow Street. As the truck was stopped, the victim was able to open the passenger door of the van and escape while at the intersection. Clarked allegedly tried to stab the woman, causing a cut in her pants.
She safely made it into the building and was followed in by Clarke. However, he soon left the store and took off in the U-Haul.
The truck was then spotted on Evans City Road and a chase continued into Jackson Township.
Clarke was taken into custody and is facing numerous charges, including kidnapping, aggravated assault, strangulation, terroristic threats, and simple assault. He’s in the Butler County Prison on $250,000 bond.
