An Ellwood City man has perjured himself after making false statements during a civil trial over uncompleted contracting work.
Cranberry Township Police have charged 53-year-old Jason Hemphill after he allegedly made false statements, failed to complete work, lied in civil court, and more.
Charging documents say Hemphill was hired to complete work in a Cranberry Township home in 2022. At first the victims were told the cost of the work would cost between $60,000 to $70,000.
After paying over $60,000 to Hemphill, he allegedly didn’t complete any work.
Hemphill also said electrical work needed done and the victims paid an additional $1,600. They were then told the total cost to complete all the remaining work would be nearly $85,000.
During a civil suit trial, Hemphill testified under oath that he was a licensed contractor, but his license expired nearly years ago.
Hemphill is facing several charges related to contractor fraud and has also been charged with perjury.
