Before being taken into custody for wielding a knife in the city of Butler, a Butler man allegedly assaulted a hospital nurse.
On Thursday just before 6 a.m., officers were called to Butler Memorial Hospital for an alleged assault of an ER Nurse Technician.
According to the victim, 64-year-old Stephen Brennfleck became aggressive yelling obscenities and claimed he wanted to fight the victim. When the victim told Brennfleck to return to his bed, it’s alleged Brennfleck hit the victim with an open hand across the face. He then attempted another attack with a closed fist, but the victim avoided the second attempt.
Help would arrive to hold Brennfleck back and the victim reported to police they were still experiencing pain and difficulty hearing after the attack. The victim also claimed their AirPods valued at $249 were damaged in the attack.
Brennfleck was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal mischief, and harassment for the attack on the hospital nurse. Charges for the attack on the nurse were not filled until Monday.
Later in the same day, Brennfleck is accused of threatening several people in the City of Butler with a knife. He was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, and disorderly conduct for the second incident.
He’s awaiting a preliminary hearing for the hospital attack but is being held on $250,000 bond for the second incident in the City of Butler.
