One person died in a vehicle crash Monday in the Parker area.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. on North River Avenue, which is Route 268, in Parker City.
Our news partners at WPXI report that the man killed in the accident was 60-year-old Brian Ochs of Sligo. State police say Ochs was heading northbound when he hit a guardrail while trying to go around a curve near South Bluff Street.
When he collided with the guardrail, his vehicle’s hood flew open. The car then traveled for around 140 feet along the rail before coming back onto the road and crossing the center line. That’s when Ochs collided head-on to an oncoming vehicle.
Police say Ochs was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his vehicle was flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center.
The driver of the oncoming vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The coroner said that Ochs was not wearing a seatbelt and was speeding at the time of the crash.
