Police have released the name and charged a man who attempted to elude police after crashing his vehicle last month.
On June 10, at 6:30 a.m. police in Muddy Creek Township saw a vehicle smoking after crashing into a telephone pole in the 100 block of Pleasant Valley Road.
When approaching the vehicle, the driver, 78-year-old Leokey Carr Jr. of Ellwood City, was preparing to leave the scene. Police told Carr to pull the car out of the intersection of East Portersville Road so it was not blocking traffic.
Instead, police say Carr took off down East Portersville Road going faster than 90 miles per hour. He eventually crashed again and was taken into custody.
He was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and 16 counts of recklessly endangering another person. Carr is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
