The man who was fatally shot at yesterday’s Trump rally in Butler has been identified.
Corey Comperatore of Buffalo Township died as a gunman was trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump.
“I just spoke with Corey’s wife and two daughters. Corey loved his community and most especially loved his family. Corey was an avid supporter of the former President and was so excited to be there with him last night in the community,” Shapiro said at a press conference Sunday afternoon at the Butler Township Municipal Building.
Comperatore was the father of two daughters. Shapiro also said that Comperatore’s wife wanted to make sure her husband was honored for being a hero.
“She asked that I share with you that Corey died a hero. Corey dove on his family to protect them last night at this rally. Corey was the very best of us. May his memory be a blessing,” Shapiro said.
Comperatore was a volunteer firefighter at the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company, and had served as chief.
The two other spectators who were critically injured in the shooting have still not been identified.
