One man is dead after he allegedly stabbed a police officer this morning in downtown Butler.
Butler City Police were called to the area the 300 block of West Jefferson Street around 6:55 a.m. for a man who was reportedly yelling at traffic.
Police say the man allegedly stabbed the police officer with a knife, and that the officer fired shots at the man killing him.
The identity of the man is not known at this time.
The police officer was then taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.
Police on scene said they would provide more details on the incident later today.
