A Butler man is facing charges after allegedly pulling a gun out on another man in Butler.
Police were called out to the 300 block of South Main Street after 58-year-old Joseph Hockenberry, a man police identify as white, allegedly threated a black man with a shotgun in his truck.
The victim was in the city to pick his wife up from work when he then went to throw away trash from his parked car. That’s when Hockenberry allegedly made racial comments and slurs towards the victim.
After an argument between the two about the comments, Hockenberry allegedly then took out a shotgun from his vehicle and racked a round.
The victim then backed down and called police. When police arrived on scene they interviewed two witnesses that corroborated with the victim’s accusations. They also said at no point did the victim go towards Hockenberry.
Hockenberry’s charges include ethnic intimidation and terroristic threats.
