A Carnegie man is facing felony charges in Butler County after he allegedly crashed into several police vehicles while attempting to escape a warrant.
On Wednesday, Adams Township police were alerted that 35-year-old Matthew Thompson was reported to be in the area of Route 228 and Seven Fields Boulevard and he may be armed and dangerous.
Thompson was found at the Continental Construction Worksite. When police arrived on scene they attempted to hold Thompson at gun point and ordered him to surrender. Thompson then left the scene by crashing into an officer’s vehicle, leading to a chase.
During the chase Thompson collided with another police vehicle and eventually ended when Thompson’s vehicle went over a hillside and into an embankment.
He’s been charged with aggravated assault, escape and more. As Thompson awaits a preliminary hearing he’s being held in the Butler County Prison on $100,000 bond.
