Nearly three months after reaching a tentative agreement, the Mars Area School District and the teachers union have been able to finalize a new contract.
The six year agreement retroactively begins with the start of the current school year. A representative of the school board stated that the agreement was fair to both sides and the process was completed with respect by all involved.
The Mars Area Education Association has approved the contract by majority vote of membership. Further details of the new contract have been posted to the Mars Area School District website.
Mars Area School District representatives are continuing negotiations on a new contract for members of the district’s support staff.
