No agreement has been reached but negotiations between the Mars Area School District and the union representing their support staff are ongoing.
According to District Solicitor Tom Breth, the most recent meeting occurred Thursday afternoon for about two hours with three school board members in attendance as well as about 50 members of the union.
No formal proposals were exchanged as part of the discussions. The board presented the union with a full and complete proposal on July 5 and the union is still surveying members before giving the board a formal response. No additional dates for negotiations have been scheduled at this time.
Earlier this month the board announced a Sept. 1 deadline for the union to accept the offer or it would move forward with plans to hire an outside contractor to perform custodial services.
