The public is invited to join with Mars Area School District students and residents to raise money to benefit a district employee as well as for breast cancer research.
The Mars Area High School is selling t-shirts as part of a fundraiser for a district employee recently diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Shirts are $15 and available to purchase during lunch period through tomorrow (Friday). Those who purchase a shirt will be encouraged to wear it to the Fightin’ Planets home varsity football game against Armstrong Friday at 7 p.m.
Students at the Mars Area School District will also participate in the ‘Hats For Heroes’ fundraiser on Friday. Friday has been designated as a district-wide “Pink Out” to raise awareness by wearing pink clothes. Students in all grades will have the chance to make a donation in exchange for the opportunity to wear a hat in school. Anyone interested in making a donation can do so by check at the schools’ main offices or online. Proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
