Starting this school year, the Mars Area School District will be ensuring safety and security by utilizing metal detectors in the district’s Centennial School building.
Mars students in grades five and six who ride the bus will be required to enter the school through the Cafeteria entrance each school day. Trained school personnel will search bags as students pass through the detectors.
Students who are being dropped off at the Mars Area Centennial School will follow a similar procedure at the Parent Drop-off Entrance. Students arriving after 9 a.m. will enter through the main doors.
All visitors entering the Centennial school will be required to pass through a detector at the Main Office. No bags or other items may be carried into the building other than small purses, diaper bags, and medical bags.
