High School Sports:
–The Mars Boys Lacrosse team continued their undefeated season into the start of the state playoffs. The WPIAL champion Planets defeated Hershey 12-0 Tuesday in the opening round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs. Mars will meet Trinity in the quarterfinals Saturday.
–The Mars Girls also won their opening game of the PIAA playoffs following a 15-7 victory over Conneaut. The Planets will get Strath Haven in the quarterfinals Saturday.
–The Seneca Valley Boys Volleyball team defeated McDowell 3-0 in the first round of the PIAA 3A tournament. The Raiders will meet Upper Dublin Saturday in the quarterfinals.
–North Allegheny defeated Cumberland Valley 3-0. The Tigers get Northeastern Saturday.
–The North Catholic Boys defeated West Shamokin 3-0 in the 2A first round. The Trojans will meet the winner of Meadville-Ambridge being played tonight in the quarterfinals.
The North Allegheny baseball team defeated Hempfield 4-0 to win the WPIAL Class 6A championship.
