A Mars man is facing charges after being accused of leading police on a chase while driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Thursday, officers identified a vehicle speeding along Route 228 after turning off Warrendale road, the driver would later be identified as 58-year-old Edward Novak Jr., who is know to the police for other incidents according to charging documents.
Officers would suspect Novak was under the influence of alcohol and attempt to pull him over, however that is when Novak sped off for a half mile towards his home.
Once at his home Novak attempted to close his garage door with his vehicle inside but the car was blocking the door from closing. At this point the officer took at their weapon out and commanded Novak come out.
Novak was taken into custody and has been charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, resisting arrest, and a DUI.
He’s being held in the Butler County Prison and his bail was set at $25,000. A preliminary hearing has been set for February 18.
