The Mars Area School board has given preliminary approval to the 2026-2027 school year budget with no tax increase.
The board approved a $69.7 million budget, a 6.7 percent increase from last year but includes no new taxes.
The budget also funds for 14 new positions for next year including eight new teachers, a school counselor, school nurse, assistant principle, evening custodial supervisor, behavior specialist, and school police officer.
The school district expects to see revenue increases from recent community growth and earned income tax revenue of about 4.5 percent.
