A Mars student-athlete that was involved in a serious crash two years ago is receiving recognition for her recovery and positivity.
Mars High School sophomore Paige Lauten was hit by a vehicle on Route 228 in November 2022. She spent the following months recovering and in physical rehabilitation.
She is now being named as the UPMC Sports Medicine Female Comeback Player of the Year. She was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Lauten is back to playing softball for both the high school and her travel team.
She also organized a toy and clothing drive for patients at UPMC’s Children’s Hospital this past winter.
