Karns City student athlete Mason Martin is confronting another obstacle in the form of a new infection.
In the most recent update to his Facebook page, Mason’s father says that Mason was able to overcome meningitis earlier in the week.
Before a shunt was able to be put in place on Wednesday, Mason’s white blood cell count increased and he became very sick on Thursday.
Doctors at UPMC Mercy have advised an aggressive course of antibiotics to prevent the infection from moving into Mason’s cranial flap which would be a lengthy setback.
