Now that the sewer deal with Pennsylvania American Water is official, Butler City Mayor Bob Dandoy is outlining some initial projects that the city will undertake.
Dandoy says the city received an estimated $92 million in the Butler Area Sewer Authority sale. He says there are some major infrastructure projects that the city will begin soon.
“It is a firm grasp of the obvious what infrastructure needs are there first. We have put many things off because there was no money,” Dandoy said. “One of the first things that will probably happen, that will make city residents very happy, is streets. We’re going to be paving streets like crazy.”
Dandoy also said all four city-owned parking lots will be updated, including a new parking system.
However, he also says that the city is also putting a plan together to be financially prudent with the funds.
“Over the three years I’ve worked on this project, I’ve had very little pushback from city residents. There have been numerous people that have walked up to me on the streets and said ‘Don’t blow it. Don’t go through this money like it’s burning a hole in your pocket,’” Dandoy said. “We’re not going to do that.”
