The public is invited out to a couple of events at local parks later this week.
First, an Invasive Plant Walk is planned for Friday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Moraine’s Pavilion 4 at the Lakeview Beach Area on the North Shore. DCNR forestry and park staff will lead a leisurely walk on flat but uneven terrain to look for non-native species that negatively impact ecosystems like the park. Attendees will also learn how to control these plants and have the chance to ask questions.
Also on Friday, area residents are invited to McConnells Mill State Park to experience Creek Critters from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Attendees will meet at the Hell’s Hollow Trail Parking lot to journey to Hell Run Creek, home of salamanders, crayfish, and aquatic insects. Participants who join the park naturalist are advised to wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and bring drinking water.
