The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is considering adding a large piece of art to a property they own downtown.
A 30-foot tall sculpture by local artist Bill Secunda was proposed by Butler Downtown for the former Wishing Well property (across from Gatto Cycles) at the corner of Main and Cunningham streets.
Secunda also did the sculpture that was at the New Castle Street Plaza holding a stop sign but this new piece of art would be far bigger. This sculpture would also be for sale.
The Authority has directed their solicitor to look into what sort of insurance coverage might be necessary for the instillation of the sculpture and if some sort of foundation would need to be constructed.
Secunda is an accomplished metal artist who has won several awards. He creates massive metal sculptures using materials including thick steel plates, stainless steel, copper, bronze and carpenter’s nails.
