Michigan defeated Ohio 5-2 Sunday to win the Little League World Series championship in Williamsport. It was the first title for the state of Michigan at the event since 1959. It was also the first time two teams from the same region played for the title, because international teams did not compete at the tournament. Little League allowed two squads from each region in the United States to fill out the 16-team field.
