After two days of deliberation, the jury for a December 2021 murder in Butler City could not reach a verdict.
The jury in the murder of 31-year-old Hakeem Morgan on College Street in Butler City began their deliberations on Thursday. They continued on for two days before the judge declared the case a mistrial due to a hung jury.
38-year-old Hassan Brack is accused of killing Morgan during a drug deal. He faces charges of murder and robbery for the alleged crime.
According to the District Attorney Richard Goldinger, they plan on re-trying Brack in the near future.
“We respect the jury process and what occurred in this case. It happens. We feel strongly that this is a case that we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt,” Goldinger said in a statement.
