State health officials say there have now been over 1,200 people who have died because of the coronavirus.
The state’s Secretary of Health, Dr. Rachel Levine, says the number of deaths rose significantly over the weekend because the state is now including probable deaths due to COVID-19 into the data.
There are now over 33,000 positive cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth. There has also been nearly 130,000 negative tests.
According to the latest update from Butler Memorial Hospital, they are treating nine people for COVID-19 symptoms, with one person currently in the ICU.
That’s an increase of two patients since Sunday morning.
Butler Health System has performed over 2,200 tests at the hospital and at the drive-thru facility—178 of those tests have been positive.
Officials want to remind residents to avoid the emergency department unless it’s absolutely necessary. They encourage people to call their primary care physician or the BHS Care Center.
