Butler County’s Moraine Pointe Plaza is not worth as much as it used to be, and a new agreement will reflect that with fewer taxes paid.
Owners Oxford Development recently appealed the previous assessed value for the property of $68 million.
During meetings of the Butler Township Commissioners and Butler Area School District Board on Monday, both groups approved an agreement reflecting the new fair market value for the property of $41 million.
The adjustment will be made gradually over three years 2025, 26, and 27. Butler Area School District will have to repay nearly $59,000 for 2025 and stands to lose roughly $120,000 in tax revenue in 2026.
The Butler County Assessment Department generates the property tax bills for the county, municipalities and school districts. Butler County was last reassessed, as a whole, in 1969.
