Those interested in getting some outdoor exercise while learning about local history are invited to Moraine State Park this weekend.
On Saturday visitors in good physical shape can meet with the park naturalist at the Wyggeston Trail at 10 a.m. for a nearly five mile difficult hike.
During the approximately two and a half hour activity, participants will learn about mineral extraction in the Muddy Creek Oil Field. The trail also passes the remains of old farmsteads and over the top of Whippoorwill Hill where park planners came up with the idea for Moraine.
Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the Old 422 Boat Launch Area, wear sturdy footwear, dress for the weather, and bring water.
