Many more students around the Butler County area will head back to class today to begin the first day of a new school year.
Classes are beginning for students in the districts of Butler, Freeport, Moniteau, and South Butler.
Many districts have recommended or encouraged mask wearing based on the advice of agencies like the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. All students who plan on using school transportation will be required to wear masks while on buses as a result of a federal mandate.
Butler Catholic School had been scheduled to begin classes on Thursday as well but made the decision earlier in the week to delay their first day until Monday as a result of concerns about high temperatures.
