With voter registration closed, new numbers from the Department of State show the number of independent voters is increasing in Pennsylvania.
There are 8.9 million registered voters in Pennsylvania. Just over 42 percent are Democrats, nearly 41 percent are Republicans, but now 12.7 percent check “no affiliation” or Independent.
That’s a 3.1 percent increase since the last election.
Meanwhile, this is how the breakdown looks in Butler County, where there are over 142,000 registered voters.
- Republican: 82,694
- Democratic: 38,759
- Libertarian: 858
- Other Voters: 20,059
