The founder of a longtime jewelry business in Butler has died.
Merril Moses passed away at his home this past Sunday.
Moses was a Lyndora native who served in the U.S. Navy. Upon his return, he founded Moses Jewelry in Lyndora before moving it to their downtown Butler location in 1968. He would open locations in the Clearview Mall in 1981 and their current location on Route 228 in 2008.
Moses was also an avid sports fan, helping with Butler High School athletics and a sports official.
A funeral service for Moses will be held this Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church.
Merril Moses was 98.
