A local lawmaker has proposed legislation that would restore a farming board to help restore accountability and transparency.
State Representative Marci Mustello has proposed House Bill 1895, which would re-establish the Agriculture Innovation Board. It was removed from the last state congressional session.
In the bill memo, Mustello argued that by restoring the board it would create “accountability and transparency” as projects are being selected for grants.
The bill is awaiting a vote in the Agriculture and Rural Affairs house committee.
