Gas prices continue to increase both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, shot up to $3.17 per gallon which is seven cents more than last week.
Prices also rose to $3.16 per gallon across western Pennsylvania as a whole over the past week which is also an increase of seven cents. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Kittanning at $ 3.10 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.20 in Brookville.
The average national gas price bumped up by eight cents over the past week to $3.04 which is the highest it has been in six years. AAA expects pump prices to continue to increase even though the Colonial pipeline shutdown has ended as a result of crude oil prices and demand for gas.
