The Washington Nationals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-2 Sunday before just 9,000 fans at PNC Park. It was the 13th time this season the Pirates failed to complete a series sweep. Bryse Wilson allowed three home runs and took the loss. The Pirates had five hits in the game, with shortstop Kevin Newman getting two of the hits, including a triple.
The Bucs are off today, and host the Cincinnati Reds for three games beginning Tuesday. The Pirates and Reds will meet nine times over their final 19 games of the regular season. The Reds are currently tied with San Diego for the final National League Wild Card spot.
