An application filed by Pennsylvania for a large amount of one-time federal emergency funds for education could benefit local school districts.
Governor Wolf announced Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Education has granted the state’s request for nearly $524 million to help schools respond to the many impacts of COVID-19.
Based on the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund formula, Butler Area School District would receive just over $1.3 million. Other local districts and the totals they could see through this disbursement include Seneca Valley at just over $280,000, Slippery Rock at just over $250,000, and Moniteau at nearly $239,000.
Local education agencies should apply to the Pennsylvania Department of Education to receive their portion of funds which could be dispersed over the next several weeks.
