A pair of EMS companies bordering Butler County are asking to be a part of the county’s EMT and paramedic training programs.
Officials with Superior EMS in Grove City and Freeport EMS have approached the commissioners about allowing members to train at the academy for EMTs and paramedics.
When the academies launched two years ago, commissioners decided that it would be for providers that have their headquarters in Butler County.
Commissioners did say they will analyze the number of calls and responses that Superior and Freeport EMS handle in the county, but urged the respective agencies to talk with their own county commissioners about becoming partners in the program.
The EMT and paramedic academies were started using ARPA funds in response to the ongoing EMS staffing crisis.
