The county has entered into an agreement with a service that will help those with disabilities contact emergency services.
The Butler County Commissioners approved a contract with Prepared911 for a software that allows 911 callers to send and receive text messages.
According to Butler County Commissioner Kevin Boozel, this service provides added assistants to those with hearing impairment. It will also translate text to the needed language and allow staff to text callers who hang up during 911 calls.
The agreement will begin July 1st and last for three years at a cost of just over $14,000 per year.
