A law aimed at eliminating junk fees is moving through the legislature in Harrisburg.
After passing by a slim vote of 108-95, H.B. 1216 has made its way to the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee.
The “Pay the Price You See – Junk Fee Transparency” bill would require the full price of event tickets, lodging, food delivery, and more be provided up front.
A federal rule was enacted in 2024 already setting this standard but if a change of the rule is made at the federal level a state law would protect the standard.
California and Minnesota have passed similar laws.
