Fans of local athletics and entertainment will have a new team to cheer for next summer.
At their Monday night meeting, the City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority approved the creation of the Butler Bantams women’s softball team in the newly forming Rustbelt Collegiate Softball League.
There is no cost to the authority to operate this team as expenses will be paid using participation fees from the players involved. The league will have around six teams with each playing about 15 games. The season will be played around the same time as the Butler Blue Sox.
The Bantams will play an exhibition fast pitch softball game against the Blue Sox next month (August 14th) at Michelle Krill Field at Pullman Park with tickets available to the public at a cost of $5 per person. More information is available on the Butler Bantams Facebook page.
